Each Friday, room 16 students are doing capacity activities in the shade ,around the sandpit. The children work in groups of four or five.  Each child is assigned a task to assist with the carrying, setting  up and packing down of writing tools, containers and buckets of water. Each group has a director to keep the students on task and speak to the teacher if necessary.
The children have to estimate the capacity of five containers and record these on a worksheet. Next, they have to measure how much water fits into each container and record it in millilitres. Mrs Gregson is pleased that their estimating and reading of increments on measuring jugs has improved. She has also seen how well organised and co-operative the groups have become.
These activities have are a lot of fun AND splashes of water help cool us down on hot days.
