Physical Education Report
It has been a great semester 1 in physical education. We have been lucky enough to be visited by several Western Australian sporting teams including the Perth Scorchers, Western Force and most recently the Perth Wildcats. This term, students from years 1-2 have been focussing on their Fundamental Movement Skills and students from years 3-6 have been focussing on AFL Football and games that include throwing and catching.
On Friday the 15th of June, students from Years 5 and 6 were involved in the Winter Interschool Carnival. The Winter Interschool Carnival was a fantastic opportunity for Year 5 and 6 students to be a part of a team in the sports of Netball, Soccer and AFL Football. The other schools involved were Illawarra Primary School, Ballajura Primary School and South Ballajura Primary School. All students participated with enthusiasm, confidence and sportsmanship. The final results of the carnival were Netball divisions A and B were both overall champions and undefeated in the carnival. The Soccer teams came 2nd and 3rd in their divisions and the Football team came 3rd. Congratulations to all the students who represented Alinjarra. It was a really great day had by all. The students should be congratulated on their positive attitude and willingness to try their absolute best. Special thanks to the wonderful coaches, Laura Beahan, Scott Passmore and Matthew Wearing. A huge thankyou to our parent volunteer coaches, Shaun Deering and Jason Kelly. Thanks also to all of the parents and spectators who came along on the day to support the students.
A huge thankyou to everyone who brought in Coles Sports for Schools vouchers. We managed to collect just over 36,000 vouchers which is fantastic. I have been able to order lots of new sporting equipment. The students will be able to enjoy using this equipment very soon.
Thanks for a great semester and I look forward to next term, fresh and ready for the upcoming Athletics Carnival.
Have a safe and happy holiday!
